BioHack 2: Suzanne Freeman

Suzanne Freeman caught COVID-19 back in mid-September 2020.  She was having severe fatigue, some loss of taste, smell, and worse of all breathing issues.  Suzanne was diagnosed with viral pneumonia and tested positive for COVID-19. The lung issues were bad enough that she went to the emergency room twice but luckily her oxygen levels were good enough that she didn't need to stay.  Suzanne recovered from the virus but continued to have fatigue, brain fog, and respiratory issues.

Suzanne is my younger sister and had been following my wife Ana's case in the ICU.  At Ana's funeral in December Suzanne complained of still having lingering "long covid" symptoms. I suggested a strict ketogenic diet based on my own improved health with a low-carb high-fat diet and my wife's drastically improved oxygen levels after trying ketosis induced by fasting after her doctors gave up. Suzanne had tried "keto" before but had issues with "keto flu" and hunger.  I told her, "that's because you are making the mistake of not eating enough fat for the hunger and not taking more electrolytes.  You need more salt!".

Two days later Suzanne gave me a call saying, "I tried keto again and ate more fat and salt.  I'm already feeling 75% better.  I have more energy and my lungs feel improved".  I told Suzanne about what I had learned about ketone esters so she ordered some KE1 from KetoneAid.com to see if that would give her even more of a boost.

The ketone esters helped with having consistent energy throughout the day.  She was able to start doing some intermittent fasting and over the next month lost 7 pounds and kept gradually feeling better.  Suzanne had gone back to school at age 54 and noticed her brain fog was lifting and she now has better memory and is learning better than before.  Old obscure memories with friends are coming back, she's reports being quicker with words and doing better in school.
